Introduction This event is the Seventh International Symposium on Energy; it combines previous two symposia: ISECM - working on small scales (ECM4, ECM5); ISECM – towards a big picture (ECM3, ECM6) into one. The conference involves multiple disciplines in technology, science, economy and policy-making. 200 years (1818-2017) since the birth of James PrescottJoule, an English physicist. The unit of energy, joule, was named after him. James was born in Salford, a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester.
